Under green LED irradiation (λ = 535 nm, 18 W) in tetrahydrofuran (THF) at room temperature, the procedure uses Eosin Y as an effective, metal-free photosensitizer. Eosin Y (1 mol%) and THF performed best, according to optimization experiments, yielding the target product 2-(furan-2-yl)-1H benzimidazole in an isolated yield of 82% after 70 minutes. The process involves photoexcitation of Eosin Y, generation of radicals, and subsequent formation of a benzimidazole derivative via a single-electron transfer (SET) pathway. IR, ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, and ESI-MS investigations verified the product structure. Based on up-to-date municipal reports, Central Pollution Control Board data, scholarly research and local news, the study combines hard data (population, daily waste) with soft data (institutional capacity, informal sector, technology and landfilling practices). Rapid urbanisation, population growth, and changes in consumption patterns have led to a significant increase in solid waste production in Kanpur, posing serious environmental, social, and public health problems. Poor waste collection, improper disposal practices, open dumping, and limited public awareness have negatively impacted the city’s sustainable urban development. This article examines the contributions of effective planning and scientific solid waste management to sustainable development in Kanpur City. Waste segregation at source, recycling, composting, community participation, technological integration, and efficient municipal governance are key to reducing environmental degradation and improving urban living conditions. Further, the study highlights the need for policy implementation, public-private partnerships, and environmental education to reinforce waste management systems. By adopting sustainable practices through integrated planning strategies, Kanpur can convert waste from an environmental burden into a valuable resource, thereby contributing to the conservation of ecological balance, economic efficiency, and social well-being for the present and future generations. We evaluated a low cost, scalable program to support students at academic risk in an introductory biology course at Western University (London, Ontario, Canada). Each fall (September–December), the Department of Biology offers Biology 1001A, the first half of a foundational first-year course. More than 2,000 students enrol annually. The course is a prerequisite for progression to second year classes in biology, medical sciences, and health sciences. At risk students identified by poor midterm exam performance were offered four weekly, one-hour sessions that provided tutoring, test taking strategies, and mental health support from upper-year student mentors and a faculty instructor. Attendance was encouraged but optional. The three-hour final exam consisted of 45 multiple-choice and five short-answer questions. Grade improvement (%) was calculated as the final exam grade (%) – midterm exam grade (%). We found that attendees improved from the midterm to final exam by 5.3 percentage points more than non attendees (95% CI 3.5 to 7.1; p < 0.001). Attendees also reported greater satisfaction with their final exam performance, fewer personal concerns and stronger perceived support from the instructional team. From midterm to final, attendees also reported greater familiarity with multiple-choice testing, lower test-taking anxiety, and fewer concerns about insufficient study time. These findings suggest that targeted support to at-risk students in a large class can improve both academic outcomes and the student experience. We used industrystandard methodologies to explore these variables. The wastewater conductivity ranges from 1208.3 to 7128.27 µScm−1, while the water pH ranges from 3.5 to 8.5. The highest concentration of total dissolved solids was 8,125 mg/l, while the highest concentration of biological oxygen requirement was 2762.45 mg/l. Samples taken from the automobile site had the highest nitrate concentration (167.00 mg/l). In contrast, samples taken from the solvent plant and the automobile factory had the highest sulphate concentrations (498 and 48 73 mg/l, respectively), and the chemical oxygen demand varied substantially across the sample locations (771.66-3108.03 mg/l). At 8,545.23 and 11.2 mg/l, respectively, the chloride and sulphide levels were highest in samples taken from solvent industries and leather factories. Almost all of the physicochemical parameters measured in this study exceeded the limits set by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the World Health Organisation, and these limits varied across samples. People drink more tea than coffee, cold drinks, dairy products, and alcohol combined. Availability does not effectively order the dried plant pieces, which are utilized to make tea. Numerous cases of food adulteration have been recorded in many countries, including India. This has taken to the creation of a new discipline of science, known as ‘green criminology’, to compensate violations of food law. Over the years, new techniques for identifying food adulteration have been developed Here we reviewed different standard DNA based molecular techniques to analyze their performance in identifying tea constituents. Originally, these were sensory techniques, which proved unreliable. Later, physical analysis of the product was done based on data on the label and microscopic evaluation. Later methods, based on the identification of lipids and proteins, were also not accurate due to biochemical changes during processing. These problems provoked scientists to get an interest in the potential of DNA testing. Due to the stability of DNA and the universal applicability of DNA-based methods for all cells, they are ideal for use in practice. Currently, the most reliable test for detecting food adulteration is Bar-HRM, as it is a highly sensitive and specific technique. The search for alternative technical approaches of bactericidal disinfection using modern physical methods is relevant for research. Checking the compliance of activated carbon «Silcarbon», which is used in medicine as a sorbent, showed that the number of fungi (TYMS) exceeds the permissible norms in several times. A number of experimental studies where ultraviolet light, a combination of UV radiation and ozonation were used have been performed to disinfect «Silcarbon» from microbiological contaminants. It is shown that optimal results can be achieved in terms of the content of molds and yeasts: the total amount does not exceed 70 CFU/g using a combination of UV radiation and ozonation. When using pulsed UV lamps with a flux density of 10000-10500 W/m2, the amount was 30 CFU/g, and for molds fungi 20 CFU/g, which meets the requirements of regulatory documents. Three doses were taken for each treatment i.e. 2gms and 3.5 gms. The data was noticed on the mortality rates and emergence of the larvae. The current research uses multinomial logistic regression. To the knowledge of the authors, this is the first logistic regression analysis performed at Saudi higher education institutions. The study can help decision-makers take action to improve the academic performance of at-risk students. The analyses are based on enrollment and completion data of 5,203 undergraduate students in the colleges of engineering and medicine. The observation period was extended for ten academic years from 2010 to 2020. Four outcomes were identified for students: (i) degree completion on time, (ii) degree completion with delay, (iii) dropout, and (iv) still enrolled in programs. The objectives are twofold: (i) to study the present situation by measuring graduation and retention rates with benchmarking, and (ii) to determine the effect of twelve continuous and dummy predictors (covariates) on outcomes. The present results show that the pre-admission covariates slightly affect performance in higher education programs. The results indicate that the most important indicator of graduation is the student's achievement in the first year of the program. Finally, it is highly suggested that initiatives be taken to increase graduation and retention rates and to review the admissions policy currently in place. This is an open access article under the CC BY-NC-ND license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/) Abstract: As occurred in many Universities worldwide, the response to the COVID-19 pandemic required us, professors at Western University (London, Canada), to quickly convert a first-year biology course with over 1200 enrolled students from an in-classroom format to an on-line format. This transition included the course exams. While the first multiple-choice exam in February 2020 was in-person and proctored, we changed the second multiple-choice exam in March 2020 so that it was completed by students online at home without a proctor. We had concerns about this online conversion, including whether the grades would represent student understanding of the course material when access to peers and other resources during the exam was not monitored. In this report we show student scores on the online exam were highly correlated with their prior in-person exam. A similar correlation was observed with prior first-year students who took similar exams in February and March 2019 which were both in-person and proctored. These results provide some reassurance that it is possible to rapidly transition the delivery of an exam from an in-person format to an online format without compromising the exam process. They have been successfully used in many systems, with different objectives. However their use as part of the cognitive process modelling raises a number of problems. On the one hand the underlying semantics of arcs is often not clearly explained, and on the other hand the evolution of the knowledge structure is not taken into account. Our work focuses on the question of the orientation of the arcs, and more generally on the structure of Bayesian network modeling of the learner. We try to show in this work how this question is crucial. In addition, the issue of structural adjustment in the network behavior of the learner sometimes had been suggested, and while different results from cognitive psychology attests to the existence of structural differences by level of expertise. The central hypothesis of our work is that has been a link between the structure of the learner model and level of expertise. We present our probabilistic graphical models of multi-networks to take into account several networks within the same model. The experiments presented in this work are arguments in favor of our hypothesis on the link between the level of expertise of the learner and the structure of Bayesian network. The ligands are characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, electronic and NMR spectral studies, while the structure of complexes has been investigated by using elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, thermal and spectral (IR, UV, EPR) measurements. IR and NMR spectra indicate that the ligand behave as dibasic tridentate ligand and coordinates to the metal ion through ketonic oxygen, azomethine nitrogen, and phenolic oxygen atoms by double deprotonation of ligand, both the phenolic and enolic protons. The magnetic and spectral data indicate octahedral geometry for Co (II) and Ni (II) complexes while the square planer geometry for Cu (II) complex. A tau collocation approach that combines the tau method with the idea of collocation for the solution of integral equations of Fredholm type is considered herein. The scope of the Lanczoz-Tau method is thus extended so that integral equations can also be solved numerically with the tau process. It has also been established that performance issues are very crucial in computer networks, for example when many computers are interconnected, complex interactions arise with unforeseen consequences. This complexity leads to degradation of performance if the system is not managed properly. Yet research on congestion control focuses almost entirely on maximizing link throughput, utilization and fairness, which matter more to the operator than the user. To arrest the situation, various factors which affect network performance were examined. Characteristics of congestion Control Protocols were described. Congestion Control Protocols like Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Explicit Congestion Protocol (XCP)were evaluated. The proposed congestion control protocol, Rate Congestion Protocol (RCP) was also evaluated. Then NS2 simulator was used under different scenarios to evaluate the performance of RCP and the aforementioned protocols to prove that RCP outperforms them in terms of expediting flows. This is an open access article under the CC BY-NC-ND license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/) Abstract: Background: In our previous studies on the oxidative status of patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) we found eight oxidative biomarkers - plasma malondialdehyde (Pl-MDA), erythrocyte malondialdehyde (Er-MDA), plasma glutathione (Pl-GSH), erythrocyte glutathione (Er-GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (Glu-6-PhD) - that changed significantly still in the first twenty-four hours of the arrhythmia clinical presentation. It is exactly their early changes that suggest a correlation of these biomarkers with the trigger mechanisms of the rhythm disorder which then raise the question of how efficiently they can predict PAF occurrence. Aim: To analyse the changes in these oxidative biomarkers as predictive for PAF development. Place and duration of study: The participants were recruited in 1st Cardiology Clinic of St Marina University Hospital, Varna, Bulgaria, between October 2010 and May 2012. Patients and methods: The oxidative indicators were measured in 51 patients (26 men; mean age 59.84 ± 1.60) and 52 controls (26 men; mean age 59.50 ± 1.46) matched in age, sex, concomitant diseases, harmful habits and body mass index. Blood samples were collected once. A dichotomous logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the oxidative biomarkers (explanatory variables) independently associated with PAF appearance. Eight logistic models with a single explanatory variable were considered to find statistically significant predictors for PAF. A multiple logistic model was used to assess simultaneously the predictive value of all statistically significant explanatory variables. Results: The logistic regression models with a single explanatory variable showed that six of the eight indicators were associated with PAF development: Pl-MDA (P=0.03), Er-MDA (P<0.001), Pl-GSH (P< 0.001), SOD (P< 0.001), CAT (P< 0.001), GSH-Px (P< 0.001). The multiple logistic model using all six explanatory variables confirmed the results (P=0.006). Constructed models were used to obtain adjusted estimate of odds and a prediction success matrix. It was found that the multiple logistic model could measure the PAF probability using values of these six markers. Conclusion: Pl-MDA, Er-MDA, Pl-GSH, SOD, CAT and GSH-Px were found to be oxidative biomarkers with predictive value for PAF occurrence. In clinical practice for each measured value of these biomarkers, the probability of the arrhythmia manifestation could be calculated. We used the parameters of the Wills-Harrison (WH) approximation in conjunction with the Bretonnet-Silbert (BS) local model pseudopotential, which is suggested separate description of the s- and d—electron states are calculated using Dubinin procedure . Isothermal compressibility and surface tension properties of Ti, Ni and V are calculated using extended Mayer’s empirical formula in terms of hard sphere diameter and packing fraction which calculated using Waseca’s formula . This complex is adsorbed onto a hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE) and uranium is determined by differential pulse cathodic stripping voltammetry (DPCSV). This method is applied for the determination of U (VI) in 10 rock samples and 15 underground water samples. The reduction current of adsorbed complex of uranium (VI) was measured by differential pulse cathodic stripping voltammetry (DPCSV), preceded by a period of accumulation onto the electrode surface. Concentration of U(VI) found were ranged from: nil ــ 3.34µgL-1in ground water samples and 0.167 – 3.637 mgkg-1 in rock samples. The statistical parameters (standard deviation, correlation coefficients, for estimation and confidence interval for standard deviations) are made by linear regression method. The values reveal the accuracy and reliability of the proposed method for monitoring of U(VI) in underground water and rock samples. Data mining is a powerful tool for academic intervention. Through data mining, a university could, for example, predict which students will or will not graduate. The university can use this information to concentrate on those students that are most at risk. In this paper we attempt to use data mining process to help in enhancing the quality of the higher education system by evaluating student data. For this purpose we have collected data from a public faculty in Tirana from 2011 to 2014, covering 1300 students. The classification process is based on the decision tree as a classification method where the generated rules are studied. We aim to build a system that will facilitate the use of generated rules, which will allow students to predict the average grade of the next year in university.
